Jazz Home Services is seeking an HVAC Technical Trainer candidate with previous HVAC industry training experience and a passion for developing and mentoring HVAC Service Technicians. This individual must be a proven leader who is goal oriented, self-motivated and personable. The HVAC Technical Trainer is a results-oriented content creator that will develop, design, coordinate and instruct training programs intended to engage, educate and motivate classrooms of individuals of different skill levels. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as exceptional presentation skills are a must. This position is provided with the support of state of the art equipment and an innovative and training-focused management team. Duties consist of strategic planning and rollout of a performance driven training program based on doing things the right way, not the easy way.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN HVAC TECHNICAL TRAINER

  • Conferring with management and other subject matter experts to analyze and identify training needs based on projected company goals and objectives
  • Preparing training budget for department
  • Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work and meet deadlines
  • Planning, designing and implementing training and development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as instructor-led classroom training, videos, e-learning, hands on demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Presenting lectures and conducting discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides
  • Observing and evaluating students' work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement
  • Supervising and monitoring students' use of tools and equipment
  • Developing and administering oral, written, and/or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness
  • Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their communication, knowledge and skills
  • Providing individualized instruction and tutorial or remedial instruction to assist students who need extra assistance
  • Creating training objectives and metrics to assess if training objectives are met
  • Evaluating instruction performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the program
  • Analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems
  • Effectively managing your own deadlines and complete multiple projects
  • Consulting with management team to ensure appropriate training needs are being met

QUALIFICATIONS OF AN HVAC TECHNICAL TRAINER

  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance is required
  • Previous HVAC training experience required
  • Experience as an instructional designer and trainer is required
  • Knowledge of Lennox and Amana systems preferred
  • Dynamic and proven presentation and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to create innovative training content (on product, process, or skills related training topics)
  • Proven ability to facilitate live instructor-led technical trainings; including hands-on experience
  • Ability to blend technical aptitude with teaching savvy
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Proactive and self-directed: Must be able to define and scope new initiatives with minimal guidance based on field input and relevant field data
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in both verbal and written form so others will understand.

  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office, including ability to create and run reports.
  • Experience with Service Titan a plus
  • Must be able to pass background check, drug screen, and have a valid CA driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF AN HVAC TECHNICAL TRAINER

  • Must be able to sit / stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to communicate in verbal and written form
  • Must be able to lift / carry / push / pull up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CA driver’s license
